Quick Answer
Post-Update 644 (May 14, 2026)Five re-graded builds for the post-Overblast-nerf meta: Long Ranger Sniper ✓ A-tier, Solo Nightmare Leveredge ✓ A-tier, One Man Army Shotgun ✗ Demoted A → B, Corrosive Vampire Quad Cylinder ↑ Buffed (Prestige cap 15), Yeehaw Chaos Portal ⚠ borrowed time. See the Post-Overblast Nerf re-grade below for the math and creator sources.

Key Facts

  • OfficialUpdate 644 (2026-05-14) nerfed Overblast. One pellet per four missing rounds instead of one per missing round — sustained shotgun DPS gain drops from ≈+50% to ≈+12.5% over the magazine, per our post-nerf math.
  • OfficialSlot budgets: 16 character slots / 14 weapon slots. Joker rarity costs vary (Normal 1, Rare 2, Prime 3, Legendary 5). Update 644 also raised the Prestige cap to 15 and added a sixth bonus slot — most builds below still assume pre-Prestige for portability.
  • CommunityEvery build below is a community loadout, not a playtest result from us. We compile what works across multiple Solo Nightmare and 4-player Co-op posts and re-verify after every Steam News patch post.
  • ExpectedYeehaw Chaos Portal is on borrowed time. The Portal-spell duplication interaction is widely flagged for adjustment in the next balance pass. Don't spend Souls building around it — borrow it for a week of Co-op runs.

Post-Overblast Nerf re-grade — Update 644 (May 14, 2026)

Evil Raptor's Update 644 (2026-05-14) shipped two changes that forced us to re-grade every shotgun-and-stack-heavy build: Overblast now triggers once every four missing rounds instead of every missing round, and Joker drops are instanced, killing the duplicate-card farm that several builds relied on. Below is each named build's status against the post-patch meta. Sources cited at the bottom of the section — every grade reflects community write-ups plus our own Overblast post-nerf math, not a playtest.

BuildUpdate 644 statusWhy
Long Ranger Sniper✓ Still A-tierUnaffected — relies on weak-point math (Headbang / Mindshot), not on Overblast or stacked duplicates. Weakest pre-patch ranking unchanged.
Solo Nightmare Leveredge✓ Still A-tierStacked Lever and Ricochet are weapon-mastery payoffs; nothing in the build used the duplicate-Joker exploit. The Bubble + Fireball → Fire Tornado reaction is unchanged in Update 644 patch notes.
One Man Army Shotgun✗ Demoted A → BCenterpiece Joker (Overblast) nerfed roughly 4×. Build still works with Glass Cannon + Speedster carrying the damage, but the empty-mag burst that made it a Solo Nightmare go-to is gone. Pick Leveredge or Quad Cylinder if you're starting fresh.
Corrosive Vampire Quad Cylinder↑ Buffed (indirect)No direct buff, but the new Prestige cap of 15 + sixth bonus slot gives this build the longest scaling runway in the meta. Drain + Thrower + Strikes loop doesn't touch any nerfed mechanic.
Yeehaw Chaos Portal⚠ Still S-tier (Co-op) — borrowed timePortal's duplication interaction was not in Update 644, so it remains the dominant 4-player Co-op build for now. Evil Raptor has pre-announced an adjustment in the next balance pass; treat the build as a one-week loaner.

How did we pick these five Far Far West builds?

We picked builds that the community already recognises by name and that show up consistently across Solo Nightmare clears and 4-player Co-op posts. We have not played any of these builds in-game — numbers, Joker pairings, and playstyle notes are compiled from public discussion, then cross-checked against current patch behaviour.

Long Ranger Sniper build

Solo, all difficulties

  • Primary: Long Ranger
  • Secondary: Bow
  • Key Jokers: Headbang (weak-point damage), Mindshot (weak-point hits explode), Focus Shot. On the Bow side: Ultra Draw, Headbang, Run & Gun, Bell Shot.
  • Spells: Thunderstrike + Acid Rain + Doll

The plan is simple: stay outside the enemy's effective range, hit weak points, let Acid Rain puddle the ground so Thunderstrike chains the moment it lands. Doll is the panic button — drop it when you get cornered and you're effectively invincible until the cooldown expires. The build collapses against close-range bosses; bring Boing in place of Doll if you're running content where you can't hold position.

Solo Nightmare Leveredge build

Solo Nightmare

  • Primary: Leveredge
  • Secondary: Revolver
  • Key Jokers: Stacked Lever (kill-on-reload chip), Ricochet (30% chain), Headbang, Relentless. Secondary: Headbang, Ricochet, Mark Ace.
  • Spells: Thunderstrike + Fireball + Bubble

This is the build most repeated when people post their first Nightmare solo clear. Stacked Lever masks the Leveredge's biggest weakness — its reload window — and Ricochet keeps the chip damage going while you reposition. The Bubble + Fireball combo seeds Fire Tornados (see the Spells & Reactions guide for the narrative, or the reaction chartfor the full 5×5 matrix) for ambient AOE that you don't need to aim. Build is fragile when Second Wind is on cooldown — the next three minutes after a death are the dangerous window.

One Man Army Shotgun build (demoted A → B after Update 644)

Solo, early game through Nightmare · post-Overblast-nerf

  • Primary: Shotgun
  • Secondary: Sheriff Stars (with Jump Star + Scavenger Star)
  • Key Jokers: Overblast (now +1 pellet per four missing rounds — see post-nerf math), Glass Cannon (+40% damage / -25% HP), Speedster, Disgrace, Speedy Gonzalez, Chad.
  • Spells: Strikes + Drain + Mino. Strikes hitting Mino spawns the "star-shaped lightning pattern" the build is named after.

Speed is both attack and defence: Speedster scales damage and rate of fire with movement, so Sheriff Stars' double-jump becomes part of your DPS rotation rather than just a panic button. Glass Cannon is the cost of admission — the 25% HP cut is what makes Drain a mandatory pick rather than a luxury. The build works from the first ten minutes of a run; it isn't a late-game-only loadout.

Update 644 caveat (May 14, 2026):Overblast was the centerpiece — its old “every missing pellet adds a pellet” behaviour was replaced with “one pellet per four missing rounds.” The empty-magazine burst that made this build feel S-tier is gone; sustained DPS still beats no-Overblast by roughly +22% per KeenGamer's math, but Solo Nightmare Leveredge and Corrosive Vampire Quad Cylinder are the safer starting picks for new builds.

Corrosive Vampire Quad Cylinder build

Solo Nightmare

  • Primary: Quad Cylinder
  • Secondary: Sheriff Stars + Impulse Grenade
  • Key Jokers: Quad Cylinder weapon-specific Jokers; Deltia ships two variants — "Bait and Switch" (control) and "Corrosive Vampire" (sustain).
  • Spells (Vampire variant): Drain + Thrower + Strikes

Drain's lifesteal pairs with Thrower's acid puddles to give you a moving bubble of damage and self-heal — anything standing in the puddle is being chipped by Strikes andbleeding HP back to you through Drain. Quad Cylinder's slow reload is the price; Sheriff Stars buys you the half-second you need to finish loading without taking a face full of bullets. Bait and Switch is the Co-op-friendly variant; the Vampire variant is the one to copy if you're soloing the highest difficulty.

Yeehaw Chaos Portal build (4-player Co-op meta)

Community meta — no single creator originated this, multiple Co-op clears use the same shape · 4-player Co-op only

  • Weapon: Open. Pair with a spell-projectile-heavy archetype (so Portal duplicates have something to copy).
  • Key Jokers: Spell cooldown reduction and projectile-replication-friendly Jokers — exact list varies by player.
  • Spells: Portal as the keystone, plus any duplicatable projectile spell — Fireball, Strikes, or Geyser are the usual three.

Portal copies any spell projectile that passes through it, and four players each running a Portal turns the screen into a duplicated-projectile slurry. It's the reason most current 4-player Nightmare clears look like a fireworks show.

Caveat:Evil Raptor has effectively pre-announced an adjustment to Portal's duplication behaviour; community write-ups uniformly flag the build as "use it now, don't marry it." If you're short on Souls, build toward something else and bring Portal as your spell of the week.

What we deliberately didn't include

Several adjacent loadouts (Elemental Wipe, Summoner Control, Burn and Burst) overlap heavily with Builds 2–4 above, so we don't reproduce them. The Spellslinger sniper-spell hybrid needs Joker specifics that aren't fully documented anywhere we can verify — we'd rather omit it than guess. We'll add it once the full Joker list is confirmable.

For a sandbox that lets you slot any of these against the 14 / 16 budgets without spending Souls, see the Build Planner. For the reaction chemistry behind Bubble + Firebeam = Fire Tornado and the rest of the elemental interactions these builds lean on, the Spells & Reactionsguide has the matrix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Far Far West build was hit hardest by Update 644?

One Man Army Shotgun. Its centerpiece Joker, Overblast, now adds one pellet per four missing rounds instead of one per missing round — the empty-magazine burst that defined the build is effectively gone. We've demoted it from A to B-tier and recommend pairing it with Glass Cannon and Speedster for raw sustain instead of leaning on the old reload-skip exploit.

Is the Shotgun One Man Army build still good after Update 644?

It's still playable but no longer best-in-slot. Per KeenGamer's post-patch math, sustained shotgun DPS still gains about +22% over a no-Overblast build, but the spike-on-empty-mag pattern that made it S-tier is dead. If you've already invested Souls, keep playing it; if you're picking a new build today, Solo Nightmare Leveredge or Corrosive Vampire Quad Cylinder is the safer pick.

Which build is the strongest pick right now (post-Update 644)?

For Solo Nightmare: Corrosive Vampire Quad Cylinder. Update 644's instanced Joker drops mean you can no longer hoard duplicate cards, but Quad Cylinder's lifesteal + acid puddle loop doesn't depend on the deleted exploit — and the new Prestige cap of 15 gives this build the longest scaling runway. For 4-player Co-op: Yeehaw Chaos Portal still rules until the Portal nerf lands.

Are any of these builds 'best' for everything?

No. Long Ranger Sniper rules at distance and dies in close quarters; Quad Cylinder Corrosive Vampire wins solo Nightmare but contributes less to a 4-player Co-op lobby than Yeehaw Chaos Portal. Pick by content and squad size, not by tier rank.

What's the easiest build for a brand-new player to copy?

Solo Nightmare Leveredge. After Update 644's instanced Joker change, the old workflow of farming duplicate Overblasts is gone — Leveredge with Stacked Lever stays consistent because it's built around weapon mastery, not around stacking the same card. Long Ranger Sniper asks for precision aim; the Shotgun build is harder than before.

Why is the Yeehaw Chaos Portal build on the list if it's getting nerfed?

Because right now it's the dominant 4-player Co-op meta and players searching for it deserve an honest write-up. We've flagged the expected nerf in the build's caveats so nobody invests permanent resources around it.

How often will this list change?

We re-verify every named build within 48 hours of any Steam News patch post. Update 644 (2026-05-14) is the version each build was last validated against. The next major re-grade is expected once the Portal duplication adjustment lands.
